Floating Platform Systems

Floating platforms are the core equipment for deep-sea offshore oil and gas development, capable of adapting to various complex offshore operation scenarios. They are widely used in deep-water oil and gas fields with water depths exceeding 300 meters for economic exploitation of marginal oil and gas fields. They can also rely on existing offshore facilities to achieve the economic production of offshore oil and gas fields. At the same time, they can serve as early production systems for oil fields, meeting the requirements of rapid commissioning and rapid capacity realization during the exploration stage. They can also be transformed into offshore natural gas liquefaction platforms to complete the purification, treatment, and liquefaction processing of offshore natural gas.

Product advantages

Floating platforms possess extremely strong adaptability for deep-sea operations, with prominent core advantages. The platform has a wide range of water depth compatibility, capable of meeting the operational needs of all gradient deep-water areas from 300 meters to over 3,000 meters; it has excellent mobility, and some platforms can be relocated across oil fields for reuse, significantly reducing equipment investment costs; the overall construction period is short, which can effectively shorten the project implementation time compared to fixed platforms. This type of platform integrates cutting-edge offshore engineering technologies, representing the highest technical level in the field of marine engineering, and has a high degree of modularization, suitable for factory prefabrication and on-site rapid installation construction methods, with significant construction efficiency and engineering cost performance advantages.

1. Material standards

- API Spec 2W/2Y "Steel Plates for Offshore Structures"

- EN 10225 "Weldable Structural Steels for Fixed Offshore Structures"

- ISO 19906 "Requirements for Arctic Marine Structures" (applicable to polar projects)

2. Manufacturing standards

- ISO 17660 "Welding Quality Requirements for Steel Structures"

- AWS D1.1 "Steel Structure Welding Specifications"

Welding standards require:

1. Welding process requirements

The main structure of the floating body must adopt a high hydrogen control welding process to ensure the stability of the structure welding; all important load-bearing nodes must implement double-sided full penetration welding process to ensure the connection strength and integrity of the nodes. For the operation environment in cold sea areas, the preheating and post-heating processes before welding must be strictly implemented to effectively avoid problems such as low-temperature welding cracks and structural brittleness, and adapt to complex marine conditions.

2. Weld seam inspection requirements

The weld seams of the main structure of the floating body shall undergo 100% ultrasonic non-destructive testing to comprehensively control the welding quality of the main body; the key connection nodes of tension legs need to complete 100% magnetic particle testing and ultrasonic testing simultaneously to eliminate minor welding defects. For weld seams in the area affected by seawater splashing, additional corrosion fatigue special assessment shall be carried out to ensure the long-term anti-corrosion and anti-fatigue performance of the structure and extend the service life of the equipment.

3. Welding material requirements

The welding materials must match the strength of the base material and priority should be given to using weld materials of the same strength or higher strength; uniformly use low hydrogen type electrodes and wires, strictly control the diffusion hydrogen content ≤ 4ml/100g, to prevent welding cold cracks from the source. For special operation environments such as polar and low-temperature areas, special low-temperature welding materials need to be used to meet the welding performance requirements of special conditions.
