FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) refers to a comprehensive offshore floating facility that integrates oil and gas production, processing, storage and offloading. The equipment can complete preliminary purification and separation processes for the crude oil produced by oil wells, store the qualified crude oil in the ship's cabin, and then complete regular offloading operations through shuttle oil tankers. It is the core main equipment for offshore oil and gas development.
FSO (Floating Storage and Offloading) is a facility with relatively simple functions. Its core only includes the ability to store crude oil and complete offloading operations for external transportation, without the functions of oil and gas production, processing and processing. It is often used in conjunction with other offshore production facilities for collaborative operations.
Application scenario
- Deepwater and ultra-deepwater oil and gas field development: Suitable for deep-sea oil and gas extraction operations with water depths typically greater than 500 meters, and capable of operating in complex deep-sea conditions
- Marginal oil and gas field development: Targeted at marginal oil and gas fields with relatively low production, avoiding the high cost of fixed platform construction, with excellent economic adaptability
- Remote sea area oil and gas development: Applicable to the development of offshore oil and gas resources located far from land infrastructure and without pipeline transportation conditions
- Projects requiring rapid commissioning: Capable of rapid deployment and rapid commissioning, significantly shortening the development cycle of oil and gas projects, and suitable for projects requiring short-term commissioning and rapid revenue generation
- Old oil and gas field renovation and extension projects: Can be paired with the upgrading and transformation of old offshore oil fields to supplement oil storage and oil discharge capabilities, and extend the overall service life of the oil field
Structural Components
- Hull Body: Typically adopts a double-shell structure, divided into longitudinal rib style and transverse frame style. This ensures the overall strength, wave resistance, and structural stability of the hull.
- Cargo Tanks: Special sealed compartments, primarily used for storing and processing qualified crude oil. They are the core structure for oil and gas storage.
- Ballast Tanks: By adjusting the capacity of ballast water, it precisely controls the draft depth of the ship, ensuring stability and balance during offshore operations.
- Topside Support Structure: Deck load-bearing structure, mainly used to support and fix various upper modules for oil and gas production and processing.
- Mooring Interface: Exclusive structural node, used to connect offshore mooring chains and mooring cables to achieve the positioning and fixation of the ship at sea.
- Riser Interface: Special supporting structure, used to connect the subsea pipeline riser, achieving the connection between subsea oil and gas transportation and the ship's system.
- Flare Tower/Helideck Support: Supports flare towers and helicopter decks, meeting the requirements for safe venting and offshore operation take-offs and landings.
Product advantages
Xinyue Group's decades of experience in steel supply have provided it with a clear advantage in the supply of high-strength steel. It can offer shipbuilding high-strength structural steels such as AH36/DH36/EH36 (yield strength ≥ 355 MPa) to meet the strict requirements of the ship's material strength and toughness. These steels are suitable for ship hull plates, decks, and bulkhead structures. They include:
Manufacturing of large-diameter welded steel pipes
- Pipeline systems within the FPSO ship's interior (ballast pipelines, fire protection pipelines, process pipelines)
- Riser systems (Riser System) require large-diameter, thick-walled steel pipes
- Spiral welded pipes (SSAW) and submerged arc welded pipes (LSAW) are both applicable
Integrated anti-corrosion treatment
- The FPSO hull is exposed to the marine environment for a long time, requiring extremely high anti-corrosion standards
- Xinyue can provide anti-corrosion solutions such as 3LPE external anti-corrosion, epoxy paint coating, and hot-sprayed aluminum
- Anti-corrosion of the waterline area and splash zone of the hull is a key technical requirement
Welding quality control
- EN 1090 EXC3 (execution level 3, the highest level) certification
- Meeting the strict requirements of the classification society for welding quality
- High heat input welding for high-strength steel is possible
